Support

Citrus County Family Resource Center is a private not for profit corporation under 501 - C3. Our only regular funding comes from United Way. This year we will receive $19,000.00 from them. All our other funds are from direct donations from area individuals, churches and service organizations. None of these organizations or individuals has made a commitment to fund us in the future, so we work from day to day with whatever funds are available. This community is very generous and has allowed us to continue for 28 years.

In addition to being funded by local individuals, our staff is comprised of volunteers. We are always in need of help.

We can use help in the form of volunteer time, large or small monetary donations or donations of materials that can be used to run the office or help families.

We especially need children's clothing that is in good repair and women's nightgowns and pajamas. When the donor has large items like furniture, we match up families and donors because we do not have room to store these large items. For smaller items like linens or dishes or food, we can make space to store until we receive requests.

If there is a crib or stroller or high chair taking up space in your storage area, we would be happy to give it a new home with a young struggling family. We ask families to use these items and then pass them along to another family.

At the end of summer, there is a need for school supplies and back packs. Later in the year, there is a special need for toys and clothing for Christmas presents. Every item helps. Some people buy a truck or a doll or underwear and let us decide who needs it. Others contact us for information about a particular child and then buy gifts for that child.
